SAP test data management for S/4HANA, ECC and connected systems

SAP test data in minutes, not weeks. Once a workflow is built, every refresh reruns in minutes. From outside your SAP system, and without a specialist, Synthesized copies a right-sized subset, masks personal data and keeps document chains intact across SAP and the systems around it.

Subset: company code 1000, last 12 months
Example
Sales orderVBAK 0000451209
Outbound deliveryLIKP 0080016533
Billing documentVBRK 0090023117
Journal entryACDOCA 5100000874
Customer 100231 appears in all four as Berg Handels GmbH, a masked name, and under the same name in the CRM.
Example data. Subsetting keeps whole document chains; masking gives a customer the same new name everywhere.

Why end-to-end SAP test data keeps breaking

A business process runs through SAP and the systems around it. Test data usually doesn't, and it fails in the same three ways.

01Out of syncSAP is refreshed, but the CRM, billing and data warehouse aren't. End-to-end tests fail on data, not on code.
02Masked differentlyEach system masks its own way, so a customer in SAP becomes someone else in the CRM, and the links between them break.
03Rebuilt every cycleEvery upgrade and release, the same people rebuild the same test data by hand, and the next test cycle waits.

The fix isn't a better point tool. It's preparing the whole process at once: one subset and one set of masking rules, across SAP and the systems around it.

By SAP product and process

Each product and process stores personal and business data its own way. These pages cover what to mask and what to keep in each.

By regulation

Each rule sets its own limits on real data in test systems. These pages cover what it asks for and how SAP test data meets it.

What the platform does in an SAP landscape

One control plane for five jobs that SAP teams usually spread across client copies, scripts and spreadsheets.

Copy and subset

Build lean test clients by company code, organizational unit, date range or business object. A QA system holds what the tests need, not all of production.

Mask and scramble

Mask personal and confidential data in standard tables and custom Z-tables, with the same replacement value everywhere it appears.

Generate synthetic data

Create customers, orders and employees that pass SAP's own validations, for scenarios production doesn't contain yet.

Find personal data

AI-assisted scanning flags personal data across S/4HANA master data, transactions and custom tables, so masking rules start from evidence.

Provision on demand

Refresh, provision and tear down test data through an API, from Tricentis Tosca, UiPath Test Cloud or your release pipeline.

Reach beyond SAP

Apply the same rules to the CRM, data warehouse and banking or HR systems your SAP processes talk to.

What to look for in an SAP test data tool

Use this list in your evaluation, whichever vendor you choose. Our guide adds an RFP template.

  • Whole document chains. Orders keep their deliveries, invoices and journal entries.
  • Custom Z-tables. Your own tables hold personal data too.
  • Consistency across systems. The same customer looks the same in SAP and the CRM.
  • Runs where SAP runs. Inside your boundary: on-premise, private cloud and RISE with SAP, air-gap capable.
  • Hooks for test automation. Data requested from inside Tosca or UiPath tests.
  • An audit trail. What was masked, when and by which rule.

Questions SAP teams ask

What is SAP test data management?

It's how you get realistic, safe data into SAP development, QA and pre-production systems: copying or subsetting production, masking personal data, generating what production lacks, and refreshing it as tests run.

Does Synthesized work with S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition?

Yes. The SAP Store listing names S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition, SAP HANA and SuccessFactors Employee Central among the products it works with.

Can it replace SAP TDMS?

For S/4HANA, yes: SAP hasn't released TDMS for it. See how each TDMS scenario maps across.

How is it priced?

The SAP Store lists annual packages from USD 42,500 for 500 GB. Larger landscapes are priced on request. See pricing and how to buy.

Which SAP test data management tools are there?

Four kinds: full system copies, client copies and scripts, SAP add-on copy tools, and test data platforms that run outside SAP, such as Synthesized. See how the four compare.

Why not just use an LLM to create SAP test data?

An LLM can help write masking scripts, but it can't be the masking engine. Test data needs the same output on every run, data that stays in your network, and a record of what was masked. Synthesized gives the same output for the same input, runs inside your boundary and logs every run.

Data for what's next

Start with a 30-minute health check

You leave with your refresh baseline in your own numbers. If it's a fit, a 10-day validation refreshes one QA client with masked, right-sized data and measures it against your current refresh.
