Test automation

Test data for SAP test automation, fresh for every run

Automated SAP tests fail when the data they expect is used up, stale or missing. Synthesized subsets, masks and generates that data and hands it to Tricentis Tosca or UiPath before each run, so failures point to defects, not to data.

Why automation stalls

Four reasons SAP automation runs out of data

01
Used-up recordsA test that posts a goods issue can't post it again against the same delivery.
02
Stale dataAfter a system refresh, the document numbers in your test cases no longer exist.
03
Shared systemsManual testers change the records your automated tests rely on.
04
Missing scenariosProduction has no customer on credit hold or no blocked material when the test needs one.

Integrations

Keep Tosca and UiPath continuously data-ready

Your automation tool runs the test. Synthesized supplies the data behind it, in the state each test expects.

Tricentis ToscaNative integration

Tosca stores and manages test data for automated tests. Synthesized fills that store with masked or generated SAP data.

  • Fresh data for SAP regression packs on every run
  • References kept intact across SAP modules
  • Edge cases production doesn't contain
UiPathAPI / CLI driven

UiPath Test Suite and robots request data through the API or CLI before a run.

  • Provisioning triggered from the orchestrator
  • Masked data for attended and unattended runs
  • The same values across SAP and non-SAP steps in one flow

Questions about test automation

Why do automated SAP tests fail on data?

Most failures come from used-up records, document numbers that no longer exist after a refresh, records other testers changed, or scenarios production doesn't contain. Each is a data problem, not a defect.

Can tests request data at run time?

Yes. A test or the orchestrator asks for the records it needs through the API or CLI before it runs, so each run starts from a known state.

Doesn't Tosca already manage test data?

Tosca stores and manages test data records for automated tests. It doesn't produce masked production data or generate new records. Synthesized produces that data and puts it where Tosca expects it.

Do we need Tosca or UiPath to use Synthesized?

No. The integrations are optional; you can refresh test systems without any automation tool.

Which SAP processes are covered?

Order-to-cash is the most developed today. See order-to-cash test data.

Next step

Stop SAP tests failing on data

Bring one test pack that fails because of data. We'll feed it from a masked subset and show the rerun.
